June is Wild Kingdom Habitat

June  2026

This month at home on Holly Creek feels like we’re living in the Wild Kingdom. Truly. Baby rabbits nibble on our grass. If only they ate more. With all the recent rain, keeping the grass at a manageable height is difficult. The deer like to eat too. But not what we want them to eat. They ate all our blueberries before they turned blue. Peaches were eaten right off the tree before they ripened too.

We saw the first woodchuck of the season. But center stage goes to the many armadillos. Young ones come out to feed in the evenings before dark. In the mornings, we’ve seen a parade of pups, the little ones following their mom back to their burrow. Every time we glance out the window, there is something to behold. And the best part is sharing the wonders of the natural world with our grandchildren.
