Farewell, my friend. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that my 22-year writing gig is closing. You probably heard - the Farmers’ Almanac is ceasing publication. It’s been in print annually since 1818. Sad and shocking news, indeed. It’s been an integral part of my lifestyle and writing identity.
The 2026 edition is their last. It was released in August. You’ll find my article, A-maize-ing Corn on pgs. 84-87. As the author of the Pearls of Wisdom series of books: Country, Kitchen, and Garden, I was contacted by FA to write for their new website. Blogs were a new and upcoming thing. At the onset, I wrote ten short articles a week to provide content for their new endeavor. I still have a folder with each of my original articles in it. It never ceases to amaze me- helpful tips and sound advice never lose its value. No matter how much time has past.
For fun and nostalgia, I’ll share a few of some of my favorite articles I’ve penned for the FA. The Farmers’ Almanac website will be offline sometime in December, so read soon, maybe while recovering from a turkey coma, over the Thanksgiving festivities.
