Decorating for Thanksgiving Celebration

The month of November was all about decorating for Thanksgiving and celebrating the anniversary of our beloved Pastor and family. There wasn’t just one table to decorate. So, it’s a good thing decorating is a favorite hobby of mine, and I worked with a wonderful duo of friends, and my sweet husband that joins forces with me on every project I undertake, or so it seems. Bless his heart!

A total of twelve tables plus food tables were dressed in golds, orange and tan for the Thanksgiving celebration in the banquet room. I also had the fun of making a scarecrow for the event. He’s a happy, handsome fellow, don’t you think? (That’s me standing beside the Scarecrow Pastor. Photo credit: Leslie Urban Byars)

Being one who can pinch a penny, and stretch a dollar, I love the creative challenge of repurposing things I have on hand. The maple syrup bottles I saved made budget-friendly table decorations. With gold spray paint, metallic ribbon, and wild, dried grasses I picked from our property, I transformed glass bottles into elegant vases at no additional cost. (See above photo.)

Velvet pumpkins in jewel tones, and glass pumpkins with gold leaf designs completed our elegant Thanksgiving table decorations.
